Open a Garmin .fit file — the most complete FIT there is
Garmin invented FIT, and a Garmin file is the format at its fullest — which is exactly why so much of what it records never reaches the tools people open it with.

The widest field set of any producer
Because Garmin wrote the format, its devices tend to write the most of it: standard record and lap data, running dynamics, sensor and device-info messages, and often developer fields from Connect IQ apps. A Garmin file is the case a FIT reader has to handle completely, and it is where a reader that only decodes the common fields leaves the most on the table — the running-dynamics and developer data that a generic viewer silently skips.
Fenix, Forerunner, Edge — same format, different fields
“Garmin” is not one device. An Edge bike computer writes power and cycling fields a Fenix on a run does not; a Forerunner records running dynamics an entry model omits; a Venu logs different health metrics again. They share the format, so a file identifies its exact product in its file_id, and which fields are present is a property of that model and its sensors — not something to infer from “it’s a Garmin”. The file states its own device; this page reads it.
What you get from this page
This page opens your Garmin file on your device and inventories everything it holds — the standard fields, the running dynamics, and any developer data — with the exact product that wrote it. It runs locally and uploads nothing.
